LightInThebox (LITB) and MiniInTheBox (MITB) are as you probably know owned by one company Lightinthebox Holding C.O. Which is listed on the New York Stock Exhange (NYSE).
MITB mainly has the small consumer goods like jewelry, watches, Apple accessories, and other phone accessories. LightInTheBox is the main website which is offering products like phones, tablets, shoes, bags, large home/kitchen stuff, clothes, and a lot of Dresses. The biggest advantage of LITB is that they translated their webshop in many different languages. Overall LITB has a huge assortment and many products with a great price. There are many new good e-commerce shops from China which are putting pressure on large shops like Light In The Box. They lost some terrain lately but are still one of the biggest at the moment with over 4,2 million Facebook likes.
LITB offers a wide variety of products, but their main products are clothes, shoes, and small accessories. For minor stuff like chargers, cases and other phones accessories they will redirect to MITB (which is annoying sometimes, because you don't notice it). They have a simple, quick website and are taking another approach than their competitors.
You will not be overwhelmed with banners but in contrast they have many categories. There are a lot of subcategories which are too specific in our opinion and those would work better with the use of the right filters.
Overall the prices from LightInTheBox are slightly higher than other chinese shops. However, there are always promotions going on. Sometimes they even offer sitewide coupons, with a 5% or 105 discount.
Our orders at LITB are always delivered within the expected time frame. But be carefull with buying to cheap to be good products. Because the quality is certainly lower with those. We would recommend to buy something slightly more expensive than the cheapest. For example a 2$ dollar charger is probably crap, so buy one for $5-10 dollar and you will get a excellent one.
If you are reading other review sites, it looks like MITB and LITB are still receiving positive reviews like always.
LITB offers like other web shops many payment methods including Paypal, Mastercard, and Visa card. Next, to these standard payment methods, they offer also directly money transfer methods like Western Union, IDEAL (Netherlands), Sofort, American Express, Yandex money, Qiwi. After the payment, you directly receive an order confirmation in your email. A significant advantage is the possibility to buy products without register an account. Which is in the case of LITB and their newsletter bomb a pretty good feature.
Lightinthebox has four different shipping methods and will offer almost every time a free track and trace number. They also offer an extra shipping insurance option in case your package will get lost or damaged during the shipment. There are a lot of Shipment methods, but none will guarantee that you don’t have to pay taxes or customs duties. However, LITB offers also a duty and tax insurance option.
Global Postal Service: Which is carried by the National Postal Service. The Global Post Service will take approximately 10-20 business days. This shipping method will not have a tracking option.
Global Postal Expedited: Which is carried by EMS and will deliver within 5-8 business days.
Global Express Expedited: Transported by DHL, UPS, FedEx, and TNT this will take 3-4 business days.
In the case when you order from a local warehouse in North America or Europe your package will be carried by local couriers and will last 3-5 business days.
Before returning your product you should always contact the customer service to process the return. If you are a European customer, you could return the product to a European warehouse. Likewise, if you are a US customer, you could return it to a warehouse located in the US. This will obviously differ the returning shipping costs.
If your received order is fine with no quality issues, but you still want to return them for a refund. You will have to contact the customer service within 14 days of receiving your order. You as a customer are fully responsible for the return shipping fees. (those conditions only count for not used items!)
The standard warranty on products from LITB is 30 days. If your product fails within that period, Lightinthebox will exchange, repair or replace new components. They will pay all the shipping costs.
There are specific categories with a longer or shorter warranty periods (for an official/accurate overview visit the LITB warranty section). The sub category "Radio Control" just got a 14 days warranty period. While phones and tablets got 3 months.
Lightinthebox does offer extra services according to customs duty, "Duty and Tax insurance". Normally the customer is self-responsible for extra chargers and their country rules. Because of that reason, LITB offers this service to create a more relaxed shopping service. In case you need to pay any duty or tax, LITB will fully reimburse those costs.
This feature is fascinating in case you don't like surprises and want to be sure about the total costs of your order. Yet, from prior experience, we know that the chance to pay duty or tax is higher when selecting a premium shipping method.
LITB does not have any point system but has a Reward & Credit Program. You will participate in this program after registration. To earn rewards, you will get 1% of the actual amount paid by the customer. LITB offers promotional events where you can earn rewards for the program.
The LightInTheBox European warehouse & US Warehouse are only offering products from the LED & Lighting categories. They offer LED strings, bulbs, and remote controlled spotlights. Shopping at the EU warehouse and the US warehouse has an advantage for the free shipping method. You will receive your products pretty quick without paying any customs duties or taxes.
Next to its mobile website, LITB has an application available in the Play store and the App store. Using one of these apps could reward you with extra bonus credits.

Lightinthebox and Miniinthebox are the same organization with a variety of the products they are selling. Lightinthebox is focusing more on clothes, shoes and larger items than Miniinthebox, which focuses more on small accessories.
They have a clear website which is especially a great value for people who do not master the English language. Together with his little sister MiniInTheBox they are offering more than one million products.
Overall are their prices a tiny bit higher comparing other Chinese online stores. So if you are interested in buying on LITB, look for the current promotions and go to our coupon page to see if there are some great site-wide coupons.
