DealExtreme.com or DX.com has been one of the first China web shops we learned to know. This webshop with their robot mascot founded back in 2005. It was probably the largest store from China for the rest of the world. Their main customers are from Spanish and Portuguese countries like Brazil, Argentina, and Spain. DX has two business offices located in Hong Kong and London. With over 300.000 products, low prices and above average custom service.
DealExtreme.com is the web shop which brought us on the idea of setting up a platform to compare all available Chinese webshops. Our first orders as a customer in China were at DX. Small gadgets since the concept was also new for us.
Our experience with the customer's service is above average comparing to other web shops, they have an available customer service express, or you can connect directly through the online chat function.
There are still a few products very cheap on DealExtreme, but the leading big brands like Xiaomi, Doogee, Elephone, DJI or Chuwi are mainly cheaper on for example web shops like Banggood, Gearbest, Fasttech.
On the other hand, DX has many special deals or contests where you can win prices. Their Most Valued Products are shipped within 24 hours with competitive pricing. And good to know is that they have an EU, US, and an AUS section but that there are no warehouses outside of China!
DealExtreme offers a lot of payment methods, the most used are Paypal and Mastercard. Besides these, you could use Boleta, Visa, Webmoney, Ideal, Astropay, Checkout, Discover, American Express, Diners Club, Xingcloud, JCB, and EBanx. Deal Extreme does not offer to pay on delivery.
After your payment you will get a confirmation. With every order you make at DX.com you will earn DX points. Which you can use for buying coupon codes or ordering other products. EU Direct only accept Credit Card or Paypal payments.
DX offers worldwide free shipping for their customers. In the checkout page, you can choose between three shipping methods.
Supersaver: Orders under USD $20 are shipped with the standard airmail option, which does not include a tracking number. You will need to purchase a tracking number during checkout for approximate $1.70 dollar.
Standard: When the order exceeds USD $20, the parcel will be shipped with registered airmail and a free tracking number.
Expedited: When you need the order urgent you could use the express post option. Be aware that this will only influence the shipping time and not the processing at DX. Besides that you will have to take into account extra shipping costs which depend heavily on your country.
DealExtreme has different direct order sections. EU, US and AU Direct. With the EU Direct section, they offer free shipping on orders over $30. Products ordered from EU Direct will be shipped by Post NL and they guaranteed 5 to max 11 business days for delivery.
US Direct uses International Bridge, and they guarantee a delivery of 3-7 business days in the US. AU Direct uses TOLL, and they guarantee delivery within 3-4 business days in Australia.
DealExtreme promises a satisfaction guarantee. They ensure that all parcels will arrive safely. Otherwise, you will get a refund. Besides the latter, their returning policy consists out of four different categories. 1. Dead on Arrival, 2.Within < 90 days, 3. Within < 150 days and 4. Within < 365 days.
How to handle a DOA (Dead on Arrival) from DX.com? You will have to return the product within five days after delivery. To let DX accept your reversal you will have to deliver some proof in three steps:
What to do with a defective item within 90 days from shipment? The defective item will be replaced or refunded for free. To be eligible for the latter you will have to resend your product. You will get your shipping costs returned for 35% of the actual product price, or for the maximum of $40.
What if the shipment date is longer than 90 days away? In this case, you will only have the ability to get a replaced product (you cannot get a refund anymore). And you are fully responsible for all shipping costs.
What to do after 150 days from shipment? DX.com does not offer a replacing or refund; they forward the product to the manufacturer. All costs according to the returning process need to be paid by yourself. So be aware of all the extra costs you might need to pay.
One major advantage for returning items at DX is the possibility to return your product to the nearest Drop Off Box. Which are in e.a. Australia, Germany, London, United States, and Hong Kong. Before returning an item, you should contact the Customer Service Express, make photos from the package/envelope and make photos from the product itself. DX will refund the same amount following the same payment method you used when ordering. At the drop off address, there is no employee to sign for the package. Therefore, do not use any express mail options! Click here for a list of the Drop Off Box addresses.
DealExtreme separates your parcels and arranges the delivery. Many times you won’t have to pay import duty. However, the customs know favorite products and brands. Therefore, you can use the import Tax & VAT insurance if you do not want to pay any additional fee.
DealExtreme will pay the duty when the customs seized the parcel. If they charge you Tax & VAT but you bought the insurance you should pay the taxes at delivery and submit a ticket. Then you should provide DX a tax document, invoice or receipt. Make a claim within 60 days from the date of shipment. Nice to know is that the maximal compensation amount is up to $40 per order!
DX offers various points and coupons for an extra discount. You can convert the DealExtreme points into coupons or use them with the Direct checkout. Points can be earned by purchasing a product or participating actively in the community section by posting reviews or videos. 100 points are worth $1 dollar. You should contact DX first before redeeming DX Points for discount on products.
Many people think DX has three warehouses located outside of China. Such as in Europe, the United States, and Australia. Dealextreme has advanced shipping methods at these locations for faster shipping, but they do not have warehouses outside China! If you don’t want to pay any extra for the customs and taxes, you can use the insurance mentioned above.
DealExtreme has some MVP (Most Valued Products). Those products are chosen and tested by DX itself and are frequently lower in price than other similar webshops. MPV products ship within 24 hours.
One special feature are the Free Gifts. There will always be opportunities at DX to find free gifts. Of course, those gadgets won't hold much, but it is always nice to receive free gifts.
Besides their main web shop DX offers some other websites for wholesaling, group buying and lifestyle products. www.volumerate.com, www.madinchina.com, and www.deals.dx.com.
DealExtreme is since 2005 a reliable Chinese webshop with an excellent customers service. They offer a lot of products which you cannot find on other webshops. Always look for the MVP’s! If you are looking for a webshop which offers premium prices for big brands you should probably consider other web shops like Banggood, Gearbest or Tinydeal. As most, smartphones and tablets are cheaper elsewhere.
DealExtreme was a major Chinese webshop but is seems it is losing slowly on the competition from other Chinese webshops. Still, if you are looking for products which are hard to find you have to search on DX!
