Gaming with a headset activates triggers your awareness and intensity, the game you are playing seems more realistic. You just want to hear all small details. Does a good gaming headset have to be expensive? A Sennheiser PC320 Game headset, which has a good mic and headphones costs about 65 dollars while the spotted Kotion Each G4000 gaming headset is 16 dollars. Is this cheaper alternative worth a try? We put it to the test, to see if it’s any good…
The headset we tested was blue and black, but there are also red and white versions available. When disconnected, the headset is not really an eye catcher. However, when the USB plug is connected, the blue diamond on either side of the headset lights up, as does the microphone. The USB has no function other than to turn on the lights, so if you prefer, you can leave this unplugged. The woven cord makes gives it a ‘high end’ feel.

Kotion Each G4000 – Sound Quality
The sound quality is surprisingly good. it is difficult to measure this objectively, but the sound appears to be at least as good as the Sennheiser gaming headset (which costs about three times as much). When playing music, the bass is more audible on the Kotion Each G4000, which will probably be appreciated by most gamers. The high tones are very clear as well though.
When playing a 20Hz-20kHz sweep, the headset managed to reproduce everything between 20Hz and approximately 15.5kHz. Other devices I have tested, however, also did not play anything above 15kHz, so there is a chance that it does play higher frequencies. Either way, music sounds very decent through this headset.
The microphone produces a strong, warm sound.
Kotion Each G4000 – Build Quality and Comfort
The headset is well finished. It looks like it can stand the occasional drop too.
The width of the headset is adjustable, by adjusting the length of the headband. This means that by varying the width of the headset, the height of the headband also changes. The pads are made of foam and feel solid, yet comfortable. They press quite firmly around the ears, which means that if you wear glasses, the headset will likely not be comfortable, as the legs will be pressed against your head. This is, however, an issue with many closed cup headsets.
Kotion Each G4000 – Overall Conclusion
All in all, this is a very nice little headset, definitely worth the 16 dollars it costs. It can be used for both gaming and music, as the sound quality is quite good. I do not recommend the headset if you wear glasses, as this gets uncomfortable after a while (in my experience). However, I have not yet found any headset that’s comfortable with glasses on.
