Mini, beginner and in-house drones are hot these days. Today we reviewed one of the small JJRC models, the JJRC H36 quadcopter, with nice sophisticated features. The JJRC H36 should fit in the beginner category. We uncover if that statement is true..

  • Dimensions: 85 x 85 x 30mm
  • Platform: Quadcopter
  • Diagonal motor distance: 65mm
  • Flight features: Headless mode, 3D flips, 2 flight speeds (High and Low), One key return
  • Propulsion: 6mm coreless (motors) / 30mm propellers (4-blade)
  • Weight: 22g (with battery)
  • Battery: 3.7V 150mAh Li Po
  • Charging time: about 30 minutes
  • Flight time: about about 6 minutes
  • Control distance: 30 meters
  • Transmitter power: 2 AAA batteries (not included)

Flight Control

With that many features flying should be easy. The drone is really steady in the air, but there is one missing function that would make it the perfect small quadcopter. It has no ‘altitude mode’ feature and as a rookie you are going to face a hard time keeping the drone on a specific height.

Headless Mode

The Headless mode is always a nice feature to have as a beginner. You don’t have to think about direction anymore and that makes live much easier. Just hit the right arrow button beneath the left throttle stick. It will work with just one simple click.

Return Home

The return to home feature was recently only available for the more expensive drones, but today even the smallest quadcopters have it. However, we had some weird experiences with the function. Probably because the lack of calibration.

3D flips

Drones from this mini size will mostly be used in-house. And even when it’s small and a beginners quadcopter not crashing requires some decent skills. 3D flips can be done out of the box with just hitting the top right button. Still, our desire for the future should be; a button for avoiding the furniture :).

Flight Time

The total flight time of the drone is approx 6 minutes. After that, you need to charge the small battery for 30 minutes. You can also find all your needed spare parts on CompareImports.

Control Experience

Overall we really liked the experience. It’s small size and weight makes it confident to fly. You don’t have to worry about ruining the living room with one flight.

One major positive point for the JJRC H36 is the design. It’s really safe and steady, and perfectly usable for children. The propellor/blades are completely covered, therefore it’s almost impossible to get hurt or break the propellers. Within the package are some spare parts, so even when it happens you can still practice on.

With red and blue LED lights you can also fly in the dark. Of course, without you could also fly in the dark. Then it would be a difficult drone 😉

The transmitter of a small quadcopter is often likewise small. It does not have ‘fake’ buttons like some other models, so that’s already a plus. Every button has a purpose. Read the instructions carefully so you know what to do in mid-air. Trimming and calibration is important with every drone, the trim buttons are just like other models and do their duty. Minor bummer is that the 2 needed AA batteries for the transmitter are not included in the package.

CompareImports Conclusion

There are many drones available from Chinese online webshops, but for this price $13.99* @ Dealsmachine with that many features. We could not find a real reason to not buy this one. GearBest gave us this review example, their price at writing is $16.51*.
